Transfer16 Week  2  Oct 24-30  Week B6
                              Prepare to be Amazed
Monday:  We got up early and went and helped to get Eldrex on the bus and walk Princes Joy to school.  They probably don’t need our help on Mondays because Ric doesn’t work Sunday night, but, it’s just a good excuse to see them.  On the way home we stopped at U-Haul to check on a trailer. After a bit of the usual p-day stuff we drove to Federal Way. Somehow we ended up taking the load of 16 big, plastic bags of leftover clothing from the Relief Society clothing swap to the D.I.  We made a trip out of it, shopping and lunch.  Federal Way has a Wal-Mart Super Store which is a lot better than the store in Renton.  We rode the Link to the Pacific Center in Seattle so Joyce could visit Kyle Jackson at Nordstrom
and do her V.T., plus buy some make-up.  It was a fun place to do visiting teaching.  Seattle is where Nordstrom’s originated.  This store at Seattle Westlake is seven stories.  The make up section takes up the whole ground floor.  It is a pretty impressive Nordstrom’s.  From the 4th Floor, you can walk across the street bridge to Pacific Place.  It is another mall and has the whole top floor of eating places.   It was raining so we just walked inside the Mall instead of downtown Seattle.  The Link Light Rail ride home was packed.  Since they have expanded the line it is used a lot more to commute to work. The Children’s Hospital called to cancel Eldrex’s appointment for tomorrow.
Tuesday:  Since there was no appointment for the hospital, we walked to the Acosta’s to help Eldrex get to school.  The bus didn’t pick him up since we had canceled it, so we walked him and Princes Joy to school.  It’s only a few blocks away.  Our district meeting was at 10:30.  The plan was for Art to go and Joyce was going to the hospital but since it cancelled we both got to go.  It was a good meeting with more role playing.  Sister Rasmusson showed the last few minutes. President and Sister Rasmussen are doing interviews at our Renton stake center today.  We had more forms to fill out and appointments to make so we walked to the Acostas after lunch.  While Joyce did the forms, Art had Princes Joy read to him and Eldrex.  Diane Nardi wanted us to pick up a prescription for her so we walked from the Acostas to the pharmacy.  They were out of the medication and won’t have it until tomorrow.  We let Diane know, then walked to Fely Baluca’s home, but she wasn’t home.  We did get to talk to her brother, Pedro.  We got our walking in on this beautiful fall day.  It was pretty fun walking through all the leaves that have piled up on the streets.  In the evening we had our interview with President Rasmussen. The Rasmusson’s are easy to visit with, so we talked to both of them quite a while, when we were all waiting for the Zone Leaders.  The Zone Leaders had asked us to wait after our interview, for them to each be interviewed, so we could give them a ride.  They were in a meeting with our Stake President.  Sounds like we will not be replaced.  Anyway, after waiting, the Zone leaders didn’t need a ride home.
Wednesday: We walked to the Acostas and got Eldrex on the bus and Princes Joy to school.  Then, picked up the sisters and drove to Northwest Harvest.  There was not a big group at Northwest Harvest.  We boxed fresh corn.  Afterwards we had lunch with the Elder Sisters.  We invited the younger sisters, but they had an appointment.  We came home and worked on lessons until time to pick up for achievement days at 5:00.  First, we practiced our song that the achievement day girls are singing for the Primary Program.  The, the girls worked on book markers made out of flowers that Sister Knowles had dried, and the boys played some basketball.  Bro. Jackson brought Angela to achievement days and he stayed and play basketball with the boys, which was good, as he is in the YM Presidency.
Thursday:  Eldrex had a doctors appointment so he didn’t go to school, but we did walk Princes Joy to school before going to W.W.  Joyce rode the van with Estrella and Eldrex to Children’s Hospital and Art stayed home.  We thought the missionary meeting would be cancelled with Bro. Lopez now in the Bishopric, but Brother Nuess ran the meeting.  He is our High Priest Group Leader.
Friday: Today was a little busier.  We got Eldrex and Princes Joy to school, then we went to institute with the Elder Sisters.  We tried to eat good when we went to lunch, but ended up getting some Licorice Ice Cream.  In the afternoon we met Pastor Shelia Dean at the church and showed her how to do Family History with Sister Larson help.  She had brought her boy and he ended up play basket ball with some other kids that were there in the gym.  Paster Sheila Dean also invited another lady.  We did have to cut it short.  It seems family history work always takes longer than the hour and a half that we scheduled.   Thank goodness for Sister Larson.  She is good at Family History and we always invite her to help.  She was Sister Chamberlain’s companion for a while, while waiting for Sister Beck to get here and she works at the Family History
Discovery Center in Bellevue.  She ended up staying, so we could go to the Halloween dinner at the Elder Sisters.  They invited the Nuess’s and the employment office sisters.  It was a fun party, with good food, lots of games, magic tricks, and story telling!
Saturday:  We attended the temple with Sister Ana Margarita Sanchez. We didn’t have school to worry about, just getting the chili in the crock pot for the party tonight so it was still a 6 a.m. early morning.  We catch the link at 7:15 so we can get to the temple on time for the session we want.  We got there a little early for the 10:00 session, so we did initiatory.  Margarita was so worried about doing initiatory.  She couldn’t remember from when she took out her endowments, so we talked her through it and the ladies were very kind.  She had such a good experience that she wants to go early now, every time, so she can do initiatory work first.   It takes most of the day with riding the bus for us to go to the temple.  It was pouring rain in the morning but sunny when we came out of the temple. Our theory is that if we take the umbrellas we won’t need them as much. It worked in the afternoon, but not the morning.   We ate lunch and then made a stop at Deseret Book.  That always cost lots, but it was things we needed (shirts, primary books, and CTR rings).  The ward trunk or treat was in the evening with the Tiffany Park Ward.  It was another fun Halloween party.  We picked up all the Acosta’s and even Irma’s grandchildren came from Auburn.  It was the chili cook off first, that never got judged, (but Elder Knowles’ chili should have won!) then, the parade of costumes, and last was trunk or treat in the parking lot. We bought lots of candy and went
through almost all of it.  The kids had such a good time!
Sunday:  It was a busy day at church.   Five of the Acosta’s rode to church with us.  Ric didn’t go, but it was a nice surprise to have Joshua Acosta there with Ruth and Rubi!  Then, after Sacrament meeting, Estrella called Ric to come and get her and Eldrex because Eldrex was not feeling well.   We had Primary Program Practice and Art taught Sunday School.  Then, for Primary class it was fun because we had two investigators (Equality and Rudi) that were there.  Our Primary Lesson was on the Beatitudes, being the salt of the Earth, and letting your light shine (3 Nephi 12) and everyone seemed to enjoy participating in the activities.
Preaching:  The Book of Mormon:  Why the Book of Mormon now?
(Notes from Brother Holliday’s Institute Class:)
Right now the Book of Mormon is flooding the Earth, when iniquity and sin are flooding the earth. Isaiah 1:5 prophesied in the Bible about the people of today:  “that the whole head is sick and the whole heart is faint.”
The Book of Mormon is ful of examples of converts to the Church of Jesus Christ:  Enos, Alma the Older, Alma the Younger, the sons of Mosiah, Corianton, and Zeezrom, just to name a few.  Missionaries right now use the Book of Mormon to gather the elect “from the four quarters of the earth, looking forth for the time of My coming,” Moses 7:62
When we come to a crisis in our lives, we accept the gospel of Jesus Christ and become converted. The missionaries are out in the mission field like “chefs,” trying to spread the “aroma” of the gospel of Jesus Christ and then people will want to “nibble” because it is so
“delicious” and makes them happy,” so that people will want more, and realize that the crisis in their life is that they do not know their Savior.  Then, missionaries ask people to come and “feast” upon the word, and read the Book of Mormon.  The Book of Mormon is where people will learn of Jesus Christ.
As you get to know the Savior in the scriptures, you learn to adore Him, for teaching and providing the atonement for us so that we can be resurrected and live with Heavenly Father, our Savior, and our families forever. When we adore Jesus Christ, who is our Savior, we will want to keep the commandments out of love for Him, so that we can live with Him, Heavenly Father, and our families again.
We have agency to choose the right.  Choosing the right becomes easier when we love Jesus Christ.  We learn of Jesus Christ on each page of the Book of Mormon.
In Nephi 27:6, 29, & 30:  It prophecies in the Book of Mormon, that the book will be brought into our day and we “shall rejoice in the Holy One.”  The Holy One is Jesus Christ.
When life gets easy, God has to chasten his people, so that we will always remember Him.  Helaman 12:1, 2  & 5 :  It seems that when the Lord blesses us and prospers us, sometimes we forget Him and we are “slow to walk in wisdom’s paths!”  So, God has to chasten us and send us more trials, as He did with people in the book of Mormon.
We truly are living in the last of the last days, and there is lateness in the hour.  There are many trials and chastening going on right now.  The world is in crisis with signs of the times that have been foretold:  tempests, storms, elements in commotion, wars, rumors of wars, hatred, and violence.
The Book of Mormon is for our day because it teaches that if we are wicked, we will be punished.  The Book of Mormon teachers that if we are obedient and live the commandments we will live in peace, joy, and happiness.

The Book of Mormon is the keystone to our faith and holds everything together as it teaches obedience to our Father in Heaven. It is also the foundation to the gospel:  teaching of faith, repentance, baptism, the Holy Ghost, the atonement, and enduring to the end.  No other book does more than that.
When you pray to ask if it is true, then you know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God who translated it from Gold Plates, and the organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true.  Jesus is the Savior of the world.  The Lord’s kingdom is once again established on the earth, preparatory for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, the Messiah.   Do we really understand our position?  The formula of asking is to ask in faith and the spirit, the Holy Ghost will testify of the truthfulness.  Read the introduction  to the Book of Mormon, the last 2 paragraphs.  Read Moroni 10:3-5.
The Book of Mormon cannot be disproved.   It is true beyond a shadow of a doubt.  D&C2:10-11:  Which was given by inspiration and confirmed by the ministering of angels and is declared unto the world by them.  Proving to the world that the holy scriptures are true, and that God does inspire men and call them to His Holy work in this age and generation, as well as in generations of old.
The Book of Mormon has a significant role and proves the Bible is true.  It is another witness of the Bible.  Do not let anti christs deter you.  The Book of Mormon is to prepare the world for the Savior’s second coming.  Will you read it each and every day?
This is the promise of Marion G. Romney, who was an apostle of the Lord:  “I feel certain that if in our homes, parents will read from the Book of Mormon prayerfully and regularly, both by themselves and with their children, the spirit of that great book will come to permeate our homes and all who dwell therein.  The Spirit of reverence will increase; mutual respect and consideration for each other will grow.  The spirit of contention will depart.  Parents will counsel their children in greater love and wisdom.  Children will be more responsive and submissive to the counsel of their parents.  Righteousness will increase.  Faith, hope, and charity - the pure love of Christ - will abound in our homes and  lives, bringing in their wake peace, joy, and happiness.”
We love The Book of Mormon and know of its truthfulness. We know that we will gain peace, joy, and happiness if we read it and obey the commandments of the Lord, which are on the pages of the Book of Mormon.
Love,
Elder and Sister Knowles
